This is a cross-post from the Meetup event linked at the bottom of this post.
4th River Aquaponics LLC combines aquaculture (raising tilapia) and hydroponics (greens and vegetables) in a warehouse. Because we are entirely indoors, we are not limited to growing seasons - we grow year 'round. This permits us to offer fresh greens and vegetables when the only other choice is days old.
We are forming a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) organization localized in Pittsburgh's Strip District. Our first step is to reach out to, and meet with, a small, core group of Charter Members - ideally also local to the Strip/Lawrenceville area - who are both interested in participating in the CSA and also, shaping our direction and growth. The single most important part of that participation involves you telling us what you would like us to grow.
A planning meeting is tentatively slated for 11:00 AM Saturday, 1 June, at the warehouse (26th and Smallman Sts, in the Strip). If you are interested in participating, please visit our website: www.4thriveraquaponics.com
